EcMLST is a database system for multilocus sequence typing (MLST) of pathogenic Escherichia coli. Three MLST schemes are supported simultaneously within the system. The system is based on two databases, the MLST database, which contains the allele sequences and allele profiles for 679 E. coli strains, and the RFLP database, which contains putative RFLP patterns of 761 allele sequences using 523 different restriction enzymes. A detailed description of the system can be found here. The system is developed and hosted in the Microbial Evolution Laboratory at Michigan State University with funding from NIAID of NIH through FWD IRN, MRU (Research contract N01-AI-30058). The project was conceived by Dr. Thomas S. Whittam. The system was designed, implemented, and maintained by Weihong Qi. Sequence data collected were either generated by the research team at the STEC Center, or submitted by our users. All sequences were manually curated by Dr. Whittam and David Lacher.
